What was the name of Jesus’ mother?
Answer: Mary. Some Christian traditions have said that the name of Mary’s mother was Ann. Elizabeth was the name of Mary’s relative who was the mother of John the Baptist. Martha is the name of another woman in the Bible who also happens to be called Mary.
Where was Jesus Born?
Answer: Bethlehem. The city of Jerusalem was the epicenter of the Jewish world. Bethlehem was a small town about five miles away from Jerusalem. Nazareth was a town about 70 miles north of Jerusalem. It was the town where Jesus grew up, but it was not where he was born. Shortly after Jesus was born, his family escaped to Egypt – perhaps near Cairo.
What did Baby Jesus sleep in?
Answer: A manger. Technically you could also say that he slept in a stable, since the manger would most likely have been inside the stable. But, the Bible only says that Mary placed Jesus in a manger because there was no room for their family at the Inn. While cribs and car seats are common places where children sleep today, Jesus would not have had the same type of comfort.
Who came to visit Jesus the night he was born?
Answer: The Shepherds. This is perhaps the trickiest question on the quiz. There certainly were angels present on the night when Jesus was born, but they appeared to the shepherds out in the fields and not at the stable with Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus. The wise men (also called the Magi or the “Three Kings”) did in fact come to visit Jesus, but they did not arrive until later and not on the night he was born.
What message did the angels deliver?
Answer: Peace. This is a little bit of a trick question too since the angel of the Lord spoke to the shepherds then a great company of the heavenly host also appeared and spoke. So, while the essence of love, joy, and hope are certainly included in the good news of Christmas, the message from the heavenly host to the shepherds was, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”
