The Ultimate War Has Already Been Won

Happy Veterans Day!

Today is Veterans Day, a day on which we thank our veterans for serving our country and keeping us safe.  It is a blessing from God that we have the privilege of living quiet lives in peace here in our homeland.  And as we are thinking about living quiet lives in peace here on earth, we cannot help but consider the peaceful eternity Jesus has won for us!  It’s a gift that will never change.

And here is a special prayer for Veterans’ Day:

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the selfless service of those who have risked their lives to protect our nation, preserve our freedoms, and restore peace in the face of brutal aggressors.  Grant relief to those who continue to experience emotional or physical agony from their days of combat.  Comfort them, and all those who support them, with your peace that passes understanding.  Bring your holy consolation also to those who mourn someone who died while performing their duty to our country.  Finally, help all who are in our military forces to learn about your saving name, so that they may know that the ultimate war has already been won by Christ and pledge eternal loyalty to Christ, our King.  It’s in his holy name that we pray, Amen.
