A Church Home – What is it?

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28

What is a church-home? There are many who don’t know.  Perhaps you’re one of them.

The word “home” has a good sound about it. A home has nothing to do with  how elegant or how modest the house is. Home is where a family lives and loves each other. Home is where someone cries with you when you hurt, and laughs with you when you’re happy. Home means security, peaceful sleep, nourishing food, clean clothes, and a sense of belonging.

A church-home has many of the same characteristics. The church-home is far more than a building. A church-home is a larger family bonded together by a common faith in Jesus Christ. This household of faith embodies a loving concern for each other, and each has a sense of belonging because the roots are deep in God’s Word. Spiritual nourishment, lasting values, and rest for the soul are offered freely in the church-home.

The church-home is where Jesus is who says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Prayer – Jesus, the rest I need is the peace of heart and mind that my sins are forgiven. Thank you for lifting the burden of guilt from me and giving me the joy of salvation. Comfort me today with your presence and bless me through my church-home. Amen.

“There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus (Rom. 8:1).”
