Forgive Us Our Sins, As We Forgive Others

Every year, in California and other places in the US, we see many wildfires.  Wouldn’t it be nice, when fighting a wildfire, if you had a huge 10 mile wide by 10 mile long blanket that would cover it and put it out immediately? Yes!

But what if instead it was a 10 mile wide gas can that they poured on to it? What would happen then?  YIKES!

When someone sins against you are you more of a wet blanket or a gas can?  Let’s look at one of Jesus’ parables today and learn more about the forgiveness we should have for others and the forgiveness that Jesus has for us!

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, your forgiving love endures forever.  Mine can hardly get started.  I am slow to trust in your justice, slow to believe you will repay the wrongs of all who hurt your children.  I feel like I cannot rest until I know just how everything will be made right again.  This isn’t how you want my heart to be.  This shows how little I appreciate you have forgiven me.  Yes, I am, “near-sighted and blind, forgetting that I have been cleansed from my past sins (2 Peter 1:9).”  Have pity on me.  Save me from my own vindictiveness.  Put into my heart the love that “covers over a multitude of sins (I Peter 4:8).”  Amen.
