Have you ever heard “Unanswered Prayers” by Garth Brooks? Of course you have – who hasn’t? But as famous of a song as that is, there’s one thing that’s a little misleading: when you are praying to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, there is no such thing as unanswered prayers.
What a gift we have – the confidence of being sure that God answers all of our prayers in the best possible way! Even if that answer is, “No – but trust me…” it is still a good thing for us long-term. And sometimes he surprises us as he answers our prayers with, “No – and here’s something even better!”
Enjoy discovering a time in David’s life when that is exactly how God answered his prayer!

And here is a prayer for today:
Faithful Savior, you have redeemed me from sin forever. You have made me a new creation in your holy image. Grant that each day, I may rise to do your will as I go about my tasks, for your glory. Lead me to trust in you above all things as I pray to you, and yield to your holy will. Encourage me that even when you answer my prayers with a “No” you always have my best spiritual interests in mind. And help me to rejoice in those times when I notice that you’ve answered my prayers by saying, “No – but here is something even better!” It’s in your holy name that I pray, Amen.
