Power. Love. What a combination!
We need God to be both. If he were only POWERFUL, but not loving…then he’d be the kind of God that would treat us as yesterday’s trash. He could do anything – but would he want to do anything to help us?
And if he were only LOVING, but not powerful…then he’d be the kind of God that would talk a big game, but ultimately get steamrolled. He’d be only words, but no action. He’d make promises that he couldn’t keep.
But God is the ultimate combo of power and love. He unleashed his POWER to send the Flood…and also unleashed his LOVE to save Noah and family in the ark. He was POWERFUL to part the Red Sea…and at the same time, LOVING to rescue the Israelites from certain doom. He was POWERFUL enough to create the universe without even breaking a sweat…and was LOVING to send Jesus for the sins of his rebellious creatures.
Power. Love. What a great combination! Rejoice that our God is ranked #1 in both.
