Sermons Preached by Christ’s Enemies: Roman Soldiers

How would you talk in the presence of a King?

If you were in the presence of King Charles, or Queen Elizabeth (when she was still living)…you would be very careful in the way that you spoke and addressed them.

You would use words like, “sir”, and “your highness.” You would show great respect.

Listen to today’s devotion and hear what the Roman soldiers did to Jesus when He told them He was a King.

Prayer: Dear King of the Universe, you are worthy of all honor, power, praise, and glory. Yet, because of your great love for us, you set all of that aside in order to save us. You traded your crown of glory for a crown of thorns. You were willing to be mocked and ridiculed for us. Because of your sacrifice, we can enter the throne room of God with confidence, knowing that you love us and will listen to us. Grant us your Spirit so that we may always honor and worship you as King of kings and Lord of lords. Amen.
