Jesus, Our Advocate

Hebrews 4:14–5:3; 7:18–27

Life often feels like a constant test. We wrestle with questions in our minds: Have I done enough? Am I enough? Did I make the right choices? Am I being a good spouse, parent, or person? And deep down, many wonder: Have I prepared enough for my final exam with God?

The good news is that our hope is not found in our own performance, but in Jesus Christ, our perfect Advocate and High Priest. Jesus is the High Priest who became our Advocate, shedding His own blood as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. He understands our weakness and struggles, yet He lived without sin. Unlike earthly priests who continually offered sacrifices, Jesus gave Himself once and for all so that we could be forgiven and welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Because of His sacrifice, we do not have to live trapped by fear, guilt, or the pressure of trying to earn God’s approval. Jesus is greater than all our worries, failures, and insecurities. When our minds are overwhelmed with doubt, Hebrews calls us to fix our eyes on Jesus the One who intercedes for us and secures our eternity.

Jesus is the final answer. Through Him, we have grace, mercy, and the confidence to draw near to God knowing our salvation rests in His finished work, not our striving.
