And here is a prayer for today: Gracious and resilient Savior, you certainly know what rocky times are all about.  You faced resistance when preaching your Word.  You dealt with disciples who only heard what they wanted to hear, and so often tuned out the rest.  You even allowed yourself to be murdered by jealous, volatile leaders.  Yet your heavenly Father was your rock during your rocky times.  No matter what, you trusted his Word boldly.  You stood tall in your resilient grace no matter what anyone else did or said, good or bad.  Be our rock as well!  Give us your holy resilience, so that we also may withstand each and every rocky time that comes our way.  It’s in your holy name that we pray, Amen.
